NEXUS Final Event: Join us in Brussels on 28 September 2026

After two years of research, innovation and validation, the Horizon Europe project NEXUS – Next-Generation Technologies for Enhanced Metro Operations is preparing to showcase its results at its Final Event, taking place on 28 September 2026 in Brussels, Belgium.

The event will bring together metro operators, transport authorities, researchers, policymakers and industry representatives to discuss how emerging technologies can contribute to the next generation of urban rail systems.

Throughout the project, the NEXUS consortium has developed and validated innovative solutions through use cases in Genoa, Italy, and Sofia, Bulgaria, addressing key challenges related to the efficiency, sustainability, resilience and operational performance of metro systems.

At the Final Event, the consortium will present the project’s main results, including:

  • Simulation models assessing the impact of fully automated metro operations (GoA4)
  • Optimisation tools supporting metro operators
  • AI-based demand forecasting applications
  • Operational optimisation solutions
  • Vehicle condition monitoring technologies

The event will also provide an opportunity to exchange with experts and stakeholders on the future of urban rail and explore how research and innovation can translate into practical solutions for metro systems.
