NEXUS at the UITP Summit 2025: Sharing Research on Metro Systems in Hamburg

The NEXUS project was presented at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Hamburg from 15 to 18 June 2025. As part of the Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking stand (A1122, Hall A1), NEXUS hosted two public sessions on Tuesday 17 June (11:30–13:00) and Wednesday 18 June (10:00–11:30) to present its ongoing work and speak with experts in the public transport sector.

At the UITP Summit, the NEXUS team gave an overview of its current activities, including:

  • Results from surveys with 899 passengers and 23 metro operators, covering topics such as safety, automation, information systems, and travel preferences.
  • Preliminary findings from case studies in Genoa and Sofia, where transport models are being developed to understand how metro systems can adapt to different conditions.
  • Early work on train control systems and the use of data for predictive maintenance and improved service management.

Visitors also had the opportunity to speak directly with project partners, learn about NEXUS’s goals, and provide feedback.

The UITP Summit is one of the largest international events focused on public transport. With thousands of professionals attending from across the world, it is a good opportunity for NEXUS to reach a wide audience, exchange knowledge, and build relationships that can support the project’s future work.
